Math tuition in Singapore, by exam

Acer Academy teaches Math in small groups with a maximum of one teacher to every eight students, backed by a results guarantee. Which exam does your child sit?

Three stages, in order, and one that runs beside them. Find the years your child is in now.

  1. Primary 5 – 6

    PSLE Mathematics

    Every student sits this at the end of Primary 6. It is graded on Achievement Levels, where AL1 is 90 marks and above.

  2. Secondary 3 – 4

    O-Level E-Math

    The core syllabus every secondary student takes. It becomes SEC G3 Mathematics from 2027.

    O-Level A-Math

    Optional, and taken alongside E-Math rather than instead of it. Students who choose it sit both papers. It becomes SEC G3 Additional Mathematics from 2027.

  3. Junior College 1 – 2

    A-Level H2 Mathematics (9758)

    The full A-Level syllabus, expected by most science, engineering and computing courses at university.

    Five centres only: Admiralty Place, Tiong Bahru, The Woodgrove, Vista Point and Junction 9.

E-Math or A-Math?

The question the fork above raises, and the one parents ask us most. The decision is not which of the two a student picks — it is whether they take the second one at all.

Who takes it

O-Level E-Math

Every secondary student. It is the core mathematics syllabus.

O-Level A-Math

Optional — a second, more advanced mathematics subject a student chooses on top.

What it covers

O-Level E-Math

Algebra, graphs and coordinate geometry, trigonometry, mensuration, statistics and probability.

O-Level A-Math

Calculus and deeper algebra, plus advanced trigonometry, the binomial theorem and proof.

O-Level A-Math

Always alongside E-Math. Most students who take A-Math sit both, and we run dedicated classes for each.

  • A-Math is strongly recommended for anyone intending to take H2 Mathematics in JC, because H2 assumes A-Math's calculus and algebra.
  • From 2027 the Singapore-Cambridge SEC replaces the O-Level: E-Math becomes G3 Mathematics and A-Math becomes G3 Additional Mathematics. The content and difficulty are unchanged.
